Any Dragons, Dragon lovers, or Puppet Lovers? Puppet for Sale!
Hoping there are some Furs around that would love a puppet like this one. :)
I brought this guy at the Texas Renaissance Festival from the awesome puppet makers Imaginarium Galleries (www.imaginariumgalleries.com). They are masters at making what they call "drabbits": Small dragon-rabbit creatures with TONS of personality.
The puppet sits on your shoulder (left or right). It has "feet" in the front to drape over your shoulder and "feet" in the back to either situate inside of your clothing/costume for extra support or to just drape over. He has one cord that will be situated inside your clothing/costume and down your sleeve. This cord allows you to bob his head "yes" or shake his head "no".
I hate having to sell him but in all honesty someone can put him to better use than I can and I am very short of money.
Purchase through eBay
or contact me at email@example.com for any information.

Hello there! As a few of you I may not have met, allow me to introduce myself. I am the Doctor and I do a bit of traveling. For example recently, I gathered a few friends, my companion Nikolai, Kate and Dr. Sabrina McCoy and took off in the TARDIS to 16th century England to the small port city of Bristol in the year 1574. Nikolai begged to take his camera along and take a few photos, so I relented and said, ok, a FEW.( Our adventure continues here!Collapse )

Children's Costume For Sale
The mate and I are trying to clear out some of our old stuff that we don't use/need anymore in order to pay a couple extra bills. One of these things is her daughter's size 3-4 Ren Faire costume, which she has outgrown by now. It includes shoes, skirt, bodice, chemise, and bloomers. The grommets on the bodice are stitched over and it has a matching hand braided lace. If anyone is interested, I can get you pictures. The bodice is a rose tapestry, brown skirt, brown shoes, muslin bloomers and chemise. On hot days she just wore the bloomers and chemise and it worked as a simple costume. I'd like to get at least $75 for it, as the shoes themselves are rather expensive, similar to the style that was available from dreamshoes.
Interested parties can contact Emily at firstname.lastname@example.org

reminded me about the RenFaire and that I forgot to post our pics, so here they are...
The gal in the purple gown is Grayce. The overcoat she is wearing in the full length picture is white with purple embroidery that she did herself. She is so talented! As is her husband. She asked if anyone could watch her tent while she went to watch her husband joust. He is part of the Joust Evolution performers. I volunteered to watch her tent and she gave me the little white bead w/ purple hearts (Beads by Grayce is her tent). I photographed all the things we brought home from the faire, plus the photo we received for assistance all day in the photo (Unforgettables) tent. They definitely need to invest in lighting for the photos. Otherwise, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back, even as a vendor again. =D
I am looking into illuminations, but have yet to receive an AoA scroll. I also need to look into paints and brushes as well. Maybe I will ask for them for Christmas! =D

Texas Renaissance Festival
The Texas Renfaire starts up on the 2nd Saturday in October and runs for 8 weekends, I went last year for the first time as Alfonse and so many people were amazed at my mask. To see some pictures of me, go to Flickr.com and type in TRF or Texas Renaissance Faire and you should evenually find some pictures of me there. I attended Scarbourgh Faire in Waxahachie Texas this last spring and again, many were amazed by my mask, to see some pictures of me there, go to www.pbase.com/autumn_leaves , check out Scarborough 2008, and you will see pictures of Alfonse at the Court Dance, yes, I was able to dance with the court ladies, and all enjoyed dancing with a fox. If anyone can make it to TRF this year, you will see me there too.

Well, another season for Bristol wraps up this weekend.
Did anyone here have a chance to go or go to any other Faires/SCAs this summer? Share the experience? What were your favorite memories?
I, for one, got to enjoy more Dirk & Guido this year, but also thanks to having a mate who works at Bristol, it was awesome to see a more in-depth picture of what goes on there.
I'm also glad to have finally finished my damn Musketeer outfit! Current Mood: accomplished

Found this to be an interesting parallel to the furry experience. There's been a couple interesting posts on a_f_r , a group for those interested in renaissance faires. Last year there was a camera crew going around one fair and some interviews were done. A few days ago the result aired.
Before it aired this was posted:
Given the amount of stuff about faires in the media (including cartoons) which shows faire folk as either out of touch oddballs or downright crazy, this could be a chance for some more or less factual publicity about faires in general. On the other hand, the show has an interesting history and premise: It's basically a debunking effort, in which several sides of an issue are presented--and, thanks to careful editing (not to mention interviewing techniques) one side looks like total idiots, and the other looks like dupes, or, alternately, bunco artists. On the other hand, Penn & Teller have a history with faires.
And after it aired:
As some of us feared, it was another lame "exposé" on those nutcases who like the faire scene. And, apparently I was one of the major figures quoted (completely out of context) establishing how big nutcases we are.

Ren Faire: A Fistful of Ducats
For you Chicagoland theatre snobs out there, don't miss Ren Faire: A Fistful of Ducats
playing through August 2nd at the Factory Theater, 3502 N. Elston
Starring Bristol cast member Erick Frederickson, the show by Matt Engle is a comedy about what happens when a Renaissance Faire and a Wild West show wind up on either side of the Interstate from each other. Hijinks ensue.
Showtimes are 8 pm on Friday and Saturday and 7pm on Sunday. Tickets are $20 at the box office.

Just a little poll for all you Renfurs out there...
Wondering if you prefer going to furry cons or Ren Faires. After all, they're really the same thing. You go to it, sometimes dressed up in elaborate, expensive costumes (which are sometimes risque), you walk around and look at very pretty things, sometimes buy them, you hang out with friends there, and you take in the entertainment around you!
Which, to you, is better?
A furry convention!
For me, I just love Faire. Until Kage and 2 work some swordfighting into their routine, there's just a tremendously lovely air to Faire, plus the food's there and you don't have to pay through the nose for any of it. That's always a boon.
What do you think? Current Mood: curious
Went to the Bristol Renaissance Faire for opening day with my friend and cohort samiitiger
. Was a good way to get out and clear the head and what better way than with ale, merrymaking and buxom wenches!
Main purchases included a new musketeer-style hat that goes well with my current costume with a magnificent plumage. Pictures soon!
Also bought myself a new tankard (that's also color coordinated) that some booths are charging me double to fill with sassafras! D:
After Samii left, I stayed behind to watch Ded Bob, Dirk & Guido and, oh, yes, the Mud Show.
Next week, I plan on taking my rapier over to Excalibur and see if I can get a custom sheath made for it. Will be good! :D Current Mood: content

The shops are ready. The signs freshly painted. You can hear the clatter of Robin Hood practicing his swordplay in the background.
Yes, Bristol is back!
Opening weekend is THIS coming weekend.
To get you in the mood, a couple of performers created a music video set at the Fairegrounds.
I'm intending on being there most weekends. Will I see anyone else there? Current Mood: chipper

Got a new pair of boots today. They're only slightly used after only one season. They were originally part of a Link costume.
They feel unusual on me. I think if I get some insoles for them, they'll feel 10 times as better! ^_^
My curiosity is that I have a predominantly dark garb set. My shirt is blood red, my pants are black. My highwayman's coat is black. These are kinda light brown... I hope it works. I think it will. I can always get a new shirt that fits better colorwise. :)

Scarborough Faire Pictures
Attending the fourth weekend of Scarborough Faire was very pleasant, the weather was cooler than normal with a strong wind all day, no worries about the heat! Once again many people enjoyed having their pictures taken with me and at the court dance I did not have to worry about finding someone to dance with, the ladies love to be seen with me. For some pictures of what I look like at the faire, go to www.pbase.com/autumn_leaves go to the Scarby2008, Opening weekend, page 13 or 14 near the bottom and you will see 4 pictures of me at the dance.
